Michaël Nakache is a true Parisian flair filmmaker. The Parisian Flair decided to feature “Convivium” his second movie in the Cinema section. Selected for several film festivals including Palm Springs, Paris Cardin (winner of the Audience Award), Grenoble, Lille, Rochester, Cleveland, Krakow. He embodies the true French man: ambitious, witty, charming and cynical humor. We’re happy to be able to feature him as a flair talent.
How do you feel about French people? They are great people with a fabulous culture. Nevertheless, they can be pessimistic and often pretentious. The downside is that they don’t know how to give a chance to new ideas and new concepts. Economically, they usually follow what has been successful in other countries (especially in the US) before they can make any move. French people love the image of aristocracy and hierarchy . Even though they’ve beheaded their king a long time ago, deep down they remain courtesans. I’d love it if French people could change their mentality. But I’m not sure it’s realistic …What is Parisian Flair for you? A good way to keep linked to my birth city. What is romanticism? “The kiss” by Robert Doisneau. Are you romantic? I am, but in a 19th century way (Chateaubriand, Victor Hugo…). Where did you have your most impressive French kiss? What is a French kiss?!
Your perfect French dinner? Eating with the one you love. Ending up with a French kiss. Your favorite French wine? Any very good Cabernet Sauvignon or Pauillac. Favorite French desert? A French kiss?! What is your Madeleine de Proust? When I eat a brioche au sucre. Last French movie you saw? ” In the house” / “Dans la maison” by François Ozon. A very good surprise.
Favorite French movie? “Children of Paradise” / “Les enfants du Paradis” by Marcel Carné. Favorite movie quote? “Paris est tout petit pour ceux qui s’aiment, comme nous, d’un aussi grand amour” / “Paris is so small for those who love each other as we do, with such an immense love” (from “Les enfants du Paradis” by Marcel Carné written by Jacques Prévert). Favorite French actor? Gérard Depardieu. Which French contemporary artist? Orelsan. What is your favorite place in France? The Max Linder Theater. What is the place that feels the most French in California? San Francisco
What do you miss most about France? Nothing. Except maybe the Chicken with herbs that I buy every week at my favorite butcher in Paris. If you had 3000 euro and you could only buy one fashion item? I wouldn’t buy only one item for that price! What is the quintessential French look? La robe trapèze by Courrèges. Every girl should wear it. The French book that most moved you? “Father Goriot” / “le père Goriot by Honoré Balzac”. Your favorite French word? Why? “Courgette”/zucchini. Because it sounds stupid. His last project “The Passenger” is right now in post production and has an amazing cast and a true Flair team!
