The quintessential true Parisian woman. Laura for Initials LA is a French fashion blogger. The Parisian Flair will feature her wonderful looks and style. Shop her picks and discover who she truly is.

How do you feel about Paris and Parisian people?  I am not a real Parisian, but after 10 years spent in Paris, I can say Paris runs in my blood! I did not realize how lucky I was to live there before I moved to Los Angeles. Paris is so inspirational, its like living in a museum, and there is not ONE day I don’t think about it with nostalgia. How do you feel about Parisian people? They are rude, stressed, always complaining about everything, but I love them and miss them! What does Parisian Flair mean to you?  This « Je ne sais quoi » that French have which makes me so proud of being French!

What is romanticism?  To suffer for love. Are you romantic? I am the worst! I spent half of my life suffering for guys who were not at all a good match for me, just because I’m in love with LOVE / je suis amoureuse de l’amour. But I had my happy romantic ending: I married a man I met on a plane 10 months ago! Where did you have your most impressive French kiss? My first kiss. We were hidden in my parents’ car, by the « Côtes des Basques » beach in Biarritz (South-West of France). Your dream? When I look back at what I have accomplished at the end of my life: to feel good, happy and satisfied

The best gift you ever made and Received? I booked a romantic night in a Hotel in Montmartre for Valentine’s Day / la Saint Valentin, with a bedroom and a view on the Sacré Cœur from one of the windows and the Eiffel tower on the other one.  I covered the bed with roses and bought some Champagne. So cliché ! I received : the incredible love from my husband. It sounds cheesy, but when a man you just met does everything to make you move from your country to join him and marries you a few months later, you really feel blessed ! And to be less romantic (I told you !!), lately he got me Stuart Weitzman over the knee boots I am totally crazy about !

Your perfect French dinner?  A dinner which starts like an aperitif with friends in a Parisian café, and finishes with a lot of empty bottles of wine, and a plate of French cheese and charcuterie. Your favorite French wine? Un Saint Estèphe (Bordeaux Médoc), partly because it reminds me  of my dad, who is an expert in French Wine (it is one of his favorite too). Your favorite meal in France?  It is not French cuisine, but I love La Bocca restaurant, rue Montmartre in one of my favorite district: Etienne Marcel. First because I am half Italian and food is delicious there, and also because I know I will always find some friends there. Favorite French desert?  My mother’s apple pie with lemon zest / tarte au citron meringuée. Do you have a secret French recipe? I stole it from my sister: when I cook a moelleux au chocolat / chocolate fondant, I put a spoon of Caramel Beurre sale / salted caramel inside before I put them in the oven. What is your Madeleine de Proust?  The perfume of my mother, « Miracle » from Lancôme, brings me directly home with her when I smell it on someone else.

Last French movie you saw?  “Les petits mouchoirs” / “little white lies” we watched it with my husband

Favorite French movie? La Buche, a little jewel by Daniele Thompson about secrets, small fights and lies in families. Hilarious, subtle, with a great cast (Sabine Azémat, Claude Rich, Charlotte Gainsbourg…) Favorite French actor? Fabrice Luchini, so smart and funny.

What is your favorite place in France? Guethary, a basque village by the sea, next to Biarritz, where I grew up.

village,basque,parisian flair,travel,laura albouy

Best hotel in France? Le Pavillon de la Reine, Place des Vosges in Paris, covered of ivy. Where would you go when you were younger in France? Biarritz of course ! Your perfume ? Narcotic Venus, from Nasomatto. If you had 3000 euro and you could only buy one French fashion item?  A suit from Yves Saint Laurent, signature of the brand. If you had 3000 euro and you could buy an entire outfit? Barbara Bui shoes, an Yves Saint Laurent blazer, a Margaux Lonnberg white top and APC jeans. What is the quintessential French look to you? The men blazer on women. Your favorite French artist? Brigitte. Best French lyrics ? Serge Gainsbourg or Alain Bashung.
