A  1945 French Classic: the story of  Garance, a beautiful French courtesan

French director François Truffaut once said: “‘I would give up all my films to have directed Children of Paradise'”.  The plot is a French love story between Baptiste, a theater mime, and Claire Reine, an actress who calls herself Garance played by the radiant Arletty. Les Enfants du Paradis / Children of Paradise was released in North America and directed by Marcel Carné. The Parisian Flair is featuring this masterpiece because it is quintessentially Parisian. Set among the Parisian theatre scene of the 1820s. Garance is loved by four men. Each one of them has their own way of showing their love to her: a mime artist, an actor, a criminal and an aristocrat. The story is further complicated, a lot of  twists and turns. We highly recommend this movie, it’s simply a masterpiece and was selected by Caroline Tillette and Michael Nakache.

L’amour dure trois ans “Love last three years” a movie adapted from French author Frederic Beigbeder’s best seller. I wonder how this fabulous semi-intellectual hipster jerk looking face has achieved to move me? Actually, yes I know, Gaspard Proust is simply exhilarating in his pretentious part, hypocrite, with a huge ego. Nevertheless, surprisingly charming. I felt […]
