Anna, how do you feel about Paris & Parisian people?  Paris is my hometown and it’s a beautiful, romantic city. Parisians are sophisticated and sometimes a bit too much. What does Parisian Flair mean to you? A certain fanciness or “je ne sais quoi”. What is romanticism? Surprises: leaving a note in the mailbox, bringing a rose, breakfast in bed… Are you romantic? Definitely ! Where did you have your most impressive French kiss? On the rooftop of my building over looking the East River. Your dream? I have too many ! Let’s say at the moment it would be to win the green card lottery. The best gift you ever made and Received? A trip and a trip, as I love to travel and love the idea of giving time to people I love to discover new places.

Your perfect French dinner? Good white wine, gratin Dauphinois and lamb chops . Your favorite French wine ? Sauvignon Blanc. Your favorite meals in France? Bread (baguette) and cheese as that’s what I miss here in New York. I really love the restaurant in the Hotel Amour in Paris and The Mama Shelter. Favorite French desert? My mother’s apple pie. Do you have a secret French recipe? Not so secret if I give it to you! But I do love making Clafoutis with feta cheese and spinach. It’s really easy and you can find a recipe on the internet. What is your Madeleine de Proust? Cut toasts in triangles and remove the crust like when I was a little girl.

Last French movie you saw? “Intouchables”. Favorite French movie? “Le premier jour du reste de ta vie”. Favorite movie quote? “I’ll have what she’s having” – When Harry met Sally”. Favorite French actor? Vincent Cassel. Which French contemporary artist? Jean Tinguely (he’s actually Swiss does that count?). Why? He’s so modern and creative and always has a touch of irony. Favorite French museum? Beaubourg (Centre George Pompidou in Paris). The French art piece that resonates the most with you? “Le monde en marche” in Gare du Nord in Paris (built by my father Fabien Chalon). What is your favorite place in France? Cap Ferret (in June before it gets too busy)

What is the place that feels the most French in NYC? “Le Bain” in the meatpacking district. What do you miss about France? La baguette and my family. Your French perfume? “La Parisienne” Yves St Laurent. If you could only buy one French fashion item? What would you buy? A Comptoir des Cotonniers coat. If you could buy an entire outfit? A “Bel Air” jumpsuit, boots from “André”. What is the quintessential French look to you? Guys wearing scarfs and turtle-necks

The French book that most moved you? “La vie en rose” by Gudule and based on an autobiographical story. The French poem you would want to receive? “Vielle chanson du temps jeune” Victor Hugo. Do you still know one by heart? Yes “Le Cancre” Jacques Prévert. Your favorite French word? À Gogo” (in abundance) Your favorite French artist? Stromae. Best French lyrics? “Je suis venu te dire que je m’en vais” Serge Gainsbourg.
